SUNGAI MENYALA FOREST TRAIL (SMFT 2018)

SUNGAI MENYALA FOREST TRAIL 2018

Event description

Sungai Menyala Forest Trail (SMFT) 2nd edition in Port Dickson, is part of Asia Trail Master Championship 2018. Scheduled for 1st April 2018, SMFT offers 50km trail and it also has shorter distances of 25 km and 10 km, to allow for a weekend trip for the whole family. SMFT 2018 is also part of Malaysian Ultra League (MUL)

Sungai Menyala is a pristine forest near the coastal town of Port Dickson, which is roughly only one hour away from Kuala Lumpur City Center. The trail course is relatively flat and expected to be very runnable with few technical sections. The most interesting part the route will go through the tribal village (Kampung Orang Asli) near the forest, which allows for plenty of cultural sightseeing. Filipino runners set Sungai Menyala alight last April with ATM Champion Manolito Divina beating a star-filled race including the likes of Steven Ong, Arief Wismoyono and Pablo Diago Gonzales. In the women's, Sandi Menchi scored one of her three ATM race victories this season ahead of Jessica Lintanga and Jeri Chua. Also in 2018 race director Razif Yahya expects an influx of fast trail runners into Port Dickson.
